My journey to Gir Part - 2

Next day we left the temple and went for the Gir. Gir is approx 160-180 k.m. away from the Ghela Somnath. There are two routes of going to Gir. You can go from the route of Amreli and you can also take a route of Gondal. The route of Gondal is a good route for travelling , you will get a direct highway of Junagadh. We took a route of Gondal. In this way you can also visit Virpur , Jetpur , khodaldham. There is a very famous temple of Jalaram Bapa in Virpur .This temple doesn’t take any type of donation. There isn’t any donation box at that temple. Jetpur is famous for the sarees. Sarees are been exported to the different countries. There is a temple of Goddess Umiya in Khodaldham. After reaching at Junagadh you have to take a route of Sasan Gir because you will not get a direct highway for the Gir. It takes approx 1-1.30 hour to reach at Sasan Gir. Sasan Gir is a sentury of lions. You will find Asiatic lions only in Sasan Gir. As we had to go to my uncle’s campsite which is situated at Borvav village of Gir , we took a route of Borvav. In the route of Sasan and Borvav you will find so many resorts and also campsites. Borvav village is approx 15-16 k.m. away from Sasan. Then we reached at the campsite.

                           Campsite , Borvav

The campsite is in the mango farm. You will find peace here. They provide tents to sleep. They provide family tents. The experience of tent is awesome. If you go there must have an experience of the tent. We stayed there at least 3 nights. At night you also get chance to hear a calling of Deer and foxes , and you also get a chance to see them. In summer you also get a chance to see the Lion. Sasan and Talala’s KESAR mangoes are very famous. At that night they arranged a Dhamal ( Dance of Siddi people ). We enjoyed a lot. Siddi peoples performed their traditional dance. It was so funny.
                            Dhamal at campsite
Next day we went Banej. It is approx 55.3 k.m. away from the Borvav. If you go through Una- Talala Rd it takes approx 1 h 37 mins. And if you go through Sasan - Talala Hwy it takes 1 h 43 mins. There is a temple of lord Shiva. This temple is located on the hill and in very dense forest. Banej is the only village where the voting has done 100%. Only the priest of the temple is belonged to that village. The old priest( Saint Narayandas ) of this temple was used lion instead of the bullock in his bullock cart. They served free food to the visitors.

Then we went to the Jamjir Water fall. It is 32 k.m. away from Borvav and 20-25 k.m. from Banej. This is the best place for photography. Some people say that this water fall is a small version of Niagara fall. The force of the water is very strong. We went the opposite side of the fall to play in the water. We enjoyed that.

The water is very chilled and also very clean. So many people were there to enjoy this. U will find so many stall of lemon water or lemon soda , food packets , fresh coconut water and also boil corn and many more. There wasn’t any changing room , but there was a small place which was covered by plastic and people used it as a changing room. Then we went at the Shree Shree Hari Ashram. Which is located in Talala. They used tier to make different things.

Tier as a steps and small round
U can see that in the photos. In this ashram there is a girls collage. Then we came back to the campsite. At night we played cards and also played musical chair with other families. We had a great fun.

My journey to Gir Part - 1( Ghela Somnath)

Hey guyzz!! I am Prachi. This is my first travel blog. Please forgive me if you find any mistake. Let me start now. Last week I travelled to Gir at my uncle's camp. Here I am sharing an experience of my travel. I hope this will help you for travelling at Gir. Gir is in Gujarat. It is 350-400 k.m. away from Ahmedabad. I went there with my family. We went there by our own car. You can also go there by bus or train .It takes 8-9 hours from Ahmedabad and if you have more days for travelling you can also visit some more places, and you will go to Gir next day. We took an express highway which directly goes to the Rajkot. On this highway you can also visit the historical places of Gujarat like Lothal , Dholavira . Dholavira was the biggest city of Harrappa. There are 2 ways to go Rajkot. One way is to turn from Dhandhuka and second way goes to Limbdi. According to me the second way is good for travelling. At Limbdi there is a big HFM (Highway Food Mall). You can find Dominoes , Ccd, Havemore , Subway there. After      k.m. we reached at Chotila. There is a very famous temple of Goddess Chamunda. The temple have approx 900 steps. You can also visit this temple. You will find so many food stalls here. As we had to go Jasdan Village to meet my Nanu. So we took a route of Jasdan. It is 51 k.m. away from Chotila. There is a temple near Jasdan which is called Ghela Somnath. It is a temple of God Shiva. We had to stay there. After reaching at jasdan we went to a restaurant called Atmiya restaurant for our lunch. Punjabi , Gujarati and Chinese food had been served there. Food packets and ice-creams were also available. Then we ordered Gujarati fix dish. The price was 100 RS. It was unlimited lunch except Papad. There were two sabji ( Bhindi , Baingan ) ,roti , buttermilk , rice , dal , achar. According to me the food was not so good but you can eat there. Then we went to Taluka Seva Sadan to meet my Nanu. In Jasdan you will find a huge collection of oxodize items. My nanu took us to the shop called Shree Khodiyar Handicraft in the market. There were a very good collection of oxodize , Minakari , silver , handicraft items. If u visit this place don't forget to go at this shop. You will find a good collection of handicraft items. Then we went at Ghela Somnath. It is approx 19 k.m. away from Jasadan village. You will get ST buses from jasdan. This temple has a good facilities for tourists who comes very far away and who wants to stay. There are five types of rooms. There are 16 V.I.P. rooms and 44 other rooms. These are the price of different rooms.
A.C. rooms – 500 R.S. ( per night )
Deluxe rooms – 150 R.S.( per night)
Dormitory room – 300 R.S.( 1 part)
Ground hall - 600 R.S.
Simple room – 100 R.S. ( per night )
I hope this will help you. They served food for free of cost. The food was also good. I stayed at the A.C. room. The room had good facilities like T.V. , A.C. , fridge , attached toilet and bathroom. This temple also has a big GAUSHALA . [ The history of this temple is amazing (15 century). Very few people know  about this. The sultan Muhamad Jafri wanted to break the SHIVLING of Somnath. The princess Minaldevi was the true worshiper of lord SHIVA. When Muhamad Jarfri’s soldiers came there to take that SHIVALING, Minaldevi went in the secret tunnel with that SHIVLING. When sultan knew about the tunnel. He came to the tunnel to finish Minaldevi and SHIVALING both. Minaldevi left the tunnel and went at the place now which is called Ghela somnath. She established the SHIVLING there. You can also see the temple of Minaldevi on the small hill at the opp. side of the temple. She took a SAMADHI at that place.]
